Nairobi known as the 'Green City in the Sun', makes a great safari destination. Aberdare National Park is spread over an area of 767 square kilometres in the Aberdare Mountain Range. The park is a part of Aberdare that is an isolated volcanic region. The park comprises an area known as the Aberdare Salient, towards the east. The park has a miscellaneous ecosystem, which is home to giant alpine vegetation, bamboo forest, rainforests and moorlands. Growth of indigenous forests in the area is due to the red volcanic soil. The different species of flora and fauna is the major attraction of this park. From black rhinos to endangered species like forest hogs, different animal species inhabit the park.
Mount Kenya Peak offers a wide range of adventure holidays for trekkers, walkers, naturalists, wildlife enthusiasts, overland travellers and birders wishing. Mount Kenya is Africa's second highest peak. While the highest peaks Batian (5200m) and Nelion (5188m) require some technical climbing, Lenana (4985m) is the peak trekkers head to. Mount Kenya's slopes are cloaked in forest and moorland which gives way to rock, ice and snow. The mountain is part of a larger reserve. There are huts on the mountain, or you can camp.
Nakuru is Kenya's 4th largest city located in the North-western part of Nairobi. It is an important agricultural city, trade center, and transportation hub for the whole of Kenya. Nakuru isn't dominated by a single tribe but several tribes. You will definitely feel the diversity in the festivals, food, events and culture. Lake Nakuru is famous for its huge flocks of flamingos that enjoy the alkaline waters of this shallow soda lake. Other than 1 million flamingos and many more species of birds, the park is also home to white rhino, warthog, giraffe, hippo, ostrich, and lion.
Masai Mara is known as one of Africa's Greatest Wildlife Reserves, situated in southwest Kenya and is part of the northern section of the Serengeti National Park. Famous for the abundance of the big cats, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and the Great Wildebeest Migration and the Maasai people, well known for their distinctive custom and dress. The Maasai Mara Ecosystem holds one of the highest lion densities in world and this is where over TWO MILLION Wildebeest, Zebra and Thomsons Gazelle migrate annually.
